Tide times

Take advantage of the high tide.

Explore the white sandy beaches of the Dwyryd Estuary with a spot of fishing, or bring your own kayak or paddleboard to play on the water.

We are on the estuary so the water comes in twice a day at various times and height. Caution is advised when walking across the sands at low tide and it is very dangerous on an incoming tide, please make sure you are back on site around 1.5-2 hours before the high tide times to avoid any problems, otherwise the whole estuary is safe to walk on between the high tide times.

Generally during high tide you can swim/kayak/paddleboard from the campsite entrance, if around 4 meters in height – there are times during the month where we have some low high-tides (under 4 meters) and the water might not reach us by the site entrance – the weather also influences the tide, it could be higher if there is a lot of rain or wind.  There are always channels of water in the estuary which children enjoy playing in and you might be able to kayak.

During our higher tides of over 5 meters, the water will go over the access road to the campsite and you will not be able to drive to us or leave the site for 1 hour before and after the high tide times, don’t worry – we will provide you with this information when you arrive on site and tide times can be found on the blackboard by the arrivals board.  If there is a very high tide, we will make this clear on the board with a *, these tides are generally in the morning or evening.

If you are planning a trip around doing a lot of water sports then the tide times for the next 12 months can be found HERE

Remember to look for tides over 4 meters and ideally around 4.5 meters or even higher for swimming and water sports.

Please check the tide times below for the next 5 days or ask at shop for further information.

You can walk over to Ynys Gifftan on low tide
